Masked shooter leaves 1 critically wounded

Fort Wayne police are investigating a shooting at a home south of downtown overnight that left one person in critical condition.

Officers were called to the 300 block of Kinnaird Avenue at 4:15 a.m. When they arrived at the house near Webster Street, they found witnesses inside tending to the man.

In serious condition at the scene, police said the victim was downgraded to critical condition on the way to the hospital. His current condition was not immediately available.

The witnesses told police that a man wearing a ski mask went into the home, shot the victim and then left.

A man with a medium build wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt was seen leaving the area in haste, but a complete description was not available.

Police said there were a number of people inside the home at the time of the shooting.
