Toddler dies weeks after fall into pool

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A northern Indiana toddler has died weeks after she nearly drowned in the swimming pool at a home child-care center.

Twenty-three-month-old Skyler Bullocks of South Bend died Saturday at a Mishawaka hospice. She had fallen into a pool Aug. 2 at a home child-care center in Osceola.

WSBT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/QkPLQ1) that an adult pulled Bullocks out of the pool and began administering CPR after a 4-year-old child spotted the girl in the pool and tried unsuccessfully to pull her out.

The Department of Child Services and police found about 10 children in the unlicensed child-care center at the time of the incident.

Under Indiana law, a home child-care center must be licensed if it has more than five children who are not related each other.
