Ice Chips

  • Looks almost official
Center Thomas Frazee posted on his twitter account he will play for the Komets this season.
  • Next great local hockey star?
Karch Bachman is on track to a professional career in hockey. Possibly one in the NHL. It'll be fun to follow his development.
  • A possible new Komet
No official word yet, but I'm hearing that the Komets may be completing a deal with Thomas Frazee, who had 24 goals and 47 points in 60 games last season with Quad City of the CHL.

You ready, Al?

This is amazing. Of the 31 players the Komets have on their training-camp roster, 19 are first- or second-year players.

That's a huge change from the CHL or IHL, eh?.

Coach Al Sims had better develop these guys in the Komets' first ECHL season.

I don't know that he's ever had a roster like this. At least not since he was with Reading of the ECHL in 2001-02 or Milwaukee of the American Hockey League before that.

By the way, I stumbled upon promising writeup on Komets newcomer Dan Nycholat -- click here -- but full disclosure, in case you weren't a fan of his, Tristin Llewellyn (traded by the Komets last season) was rated higher.
