Manufacturers endorse Mourdock

The Indiana Manufacturers Association announced Thursday that it is endorsing state Treasurer Richard Mourdock for a U.S. Senate seat.

Mourdock is opposed by Rep. Joe Donnelly, D-2nd, and Libertarian candidate Andrew Horning in the Nov. 6 general election. The IMA said it endorsed Mourdock because he supports "the elimination of wasteful spending, a sound energy policy and the reduction of tax and regulatory burdens." During the Republican primary-election campaign, the IMA had endorsed six-term Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., whom Mourdock would defeat by a wide margin of votes. At the time, the IMA called Lugar "a proven leader with a proven record."
