Masked man flees after shooting

A masked gunman entered and left a near-south-side home quickly but not before shooting and seriously injuring a 42-year-old Fort Wayne man early Wednesday.

Fort Wayne police were called at 4:15 a.m. to a house in the 300 block of Kinnaird Avenue, where they found Nathaniel E. Myles suffering from a gunshot wound.

Several people at the home were tending to Myles by the time officers arrived, police said.

According to those in the home, a man wearing a ski mask entered the house, shot Myles and left. Another witness said a man with a medium build and a dark hooded sweatshirt left the area of the shooting quickly afterward, according to police.

Myles was in serious condition as medics arrived; he was downgraded to critical condition en route to the a hospital.

He has since been upgraded to serious condition again, according to police.

Others in the home have been interviewed by detectives, but no motive for the shooting has been established, according to Fort Wayne police.
