Smith to be honored as a member of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Bishop Luers linebacker Jaylon Smith will receive some special visitors at school next Friday.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior will be honored as a member of the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl by the selection tour at an assembly in Luers' gym, the bowl announced today.

The assembly is scheduled to start at 2:15 p.m.

Smith, a Notre Dame recruit, is one of 90 members the selection team will announce from September to December.

The All-American Bowl will be played in San Antonio's Alamodome at 1 p.m. Jan. 5. The game will be televised by NBC.

Smith joins former Bishop Dwenger standout and current Irish receiver John Goodman as a Fort Wayne player to recently play in the high school all-star game.

Goodman played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in 2008.
