Two charged in beating, robbery

Two men accused of robbing one man and then forcing their way into a home by beating another man at the door were charged Thursday.

Pedro Lopez, 36, of the 4600 block of Spatz Avenue, and Tomas Tovar, 30, of the 6600 block of South Calhoun Street, each face charges of robbery, battery and residential entry.

According to Allen Superior Court documents, Lopez and Tovar pulled a man out of his pickup truck just after midnight Sunday and beat him about the face and head.

One of them had a gun, the man told police, and they took the man’s keys, according to court documents.

Later, Lopez and Tovar went to a home where they knocked on the door and forced their way inside, the court documents said. A man who answered the door said he was punched in the face, court documents said.
