College football preview: Taylor at Trine

Scouting report: If Trine doesn’t beat Taylor on Saturday, it will be the first time since 2006 – when the school was called Tri-State – that the team has sustained three consecutive losses. The Thunder’s 13-10 road loss to Concordia (Wis.) on Saturday was the first time since 2007 that the school has lost back-to-back regular-season games. Trine managed just eight first downs, 26 rushing yards and 140 total yards. Taylor is coming off a 24-14 loss at 20th-ranked (NAIA) Saint Ambrose. Taylor has a balanced offense, averaging 211 rushing yards and 191 passing yards. Taylor Johnson and Jake Fidler combine for 135 rushing yards, and quarterback Nick Freeman has completed 71 percent of his passes, averaging 178 yards. He has seven touchdown passes against one interception.
