Michiganturned the ball over six times, five of the turnovers came from quarterback Denard Robinson, and it took tight end Tyler Eifert's first catch of the game and a big run by Theo Riddick to seal the win.
Michigankicked two fourth-quarter field goals to Notre Dame's one fourth-quarter field goal to cut the Irish's lead to a touchdown with3:27to play.
Then with the Irish facing third-and-4 from their 31, quarterback Tommy Rees found Eifert wide open for a 38-yard pass.
Notre Dame faced another third-down situation, needing 8 yards fromMichigan's 29, and Riddick came through with an 8-yard run to seal the win.
Rees replaced Everett Golson in the second quarter after Golson threw two interceptions in the first half. Rees ran for his first career touchdown on a 2-yard carry and completed 8 of 11 passes for 115 yards.
