This was really fun to knit. Don't be scared by the chart in the pattern.

Math4Knitters, Crafty Living: Show 143

This week, I chat with Susan Strawn, author of Knitting America, and share the pattern for my Seize the Flower Tam.

Seize the Flower Tam

I am really happy with this little hat. The very easy stitch pattern flows right into the crown shaping for the top. The chart is a little unusual, in that it moves along with the stitches in the pattern. Instead of going straight up and down, the pattern flows to the left and then to the right, in a simple, leaf-like formation. This allows the motifs in the pattern to stay complete and look more like what's on your needles. So, don't let the way it looks on the page freak you out.

I had such a great time talking with Susan. I can really only describe our talk as a full-on knitting and history geek-out. I hope you like it, too.
