Splash-In set for Pokagon

The Indiana Seaplane Pilots Association will hold its annual Seaplane Splash-In from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Pokagon State Park, 450 Lane 100 Lake James in Angola.

Area pilots will be flying in seaplanes, landing on Lake James and rolling up onto the Potawatomi Inn’s front lawn. To participate, or for more information, go to

The event is free, but the standard, daily, park entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicle is required.

Autumn Harvest Hodown at Pokagon

Music and square dancing will highlight the 28th annual Autumn Harvest Hodown at Pokagon State Park on Saturday.

It is free and open to the public and runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the South Beach parking lot. In case of inclement weather, it will be held in the CCC Shelter.

The Prairie Fire String Band returns, featuring banjo, string bass, guitars, fiddle, penny whistle, hammered dulcimer, mandolin, and multivoiced harmonies. Square-dance caller Marlin Whitaker will also be on hand.

A catered cookout and snacks will be provided. Visitors should bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating.
