Verbatim: Pair arrested for Howe store robbery

From a report received Tuesday morning:

On 9/25/12, at approximately 02:32 hrs, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department responded to the J and J Discount located at 6490 N State Rd. 9, Howe, Indiana, reference a burglary alarm.

Investigation revealed that between 02:00 a.m. and 02:32 a.m., two subjects had entered the store after forcing entry through the front door. The suspects then fled the store after taking some cigarettes off of a shelf located behind the counter.

A short time later Sturgis Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle and discovered the occupants were in possession of Indiana stamped cigarettes and burglary tools.

The occupants (indentified as Jeremy Conley and Thomas Papke) were both on Parole out of Michigan.

Sturgis Police Department arrested Conley and Papke for charges: Parole Violation, Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of Burglary Tools. Investigation continues at this time.
