    The D-League will hold its annual national tryouts June 15 in New York. The one-day event will see 200 hopefuls in full-court games in front of team executives, coaches and scouts.
  • Howard, Smith work at Development League camp
    Mad Ants guard Ron Howard and center Tommy Smith accepted invitations to the NBA Development League Elite Mini Camp, which started Monday and runs through Tuesday in Chicago.
  • Record year for D-League
    It wasn't only the Mad Ants that made 2012-13 their best season; the rest of the NBA Development League had a record-setting year, as well.

Ants' tryouts near Detroit

The talent search for the Mad Ants is headed north.

The Mad Ants, who will play their sixth season in the NBA Development League, will hold an open tryout Sunday at the Beech Woods Recreation Center, 22200 Beech Road, Southfield, Mich., near Detroit.

Check-in and late registration will begin at 9 a.m., with tryouts beginning at10 a.m.

Applicants may pre-register by submitting the official registration, disclosure and release forms – in addition to a $150 non-refundable fee – by Sept. 27. Forms are available at www.fortwaynehoops.com. Payments must be paid by money order or cashier's check. The fee for day of registration is $200.

The Mad Ants' annual local tryout will be held Oct. 20-21 at the Concordia Seminary gymnasium. Players may earn an invitation to the team's training camp, which will begin in early November.

The season will begin Nov. 23 against Erie at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum.
