Purdue leads after three quarters

Purdue leads Marshall 45-28 after three quarters Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Thundering Herd scored twice in the third quarter to get within 14.

Marshall’s Rakeem Cato threw a 28-yard pass to Gator Hoskins to make it 42-21. Marshall’s Derek Mitchell picked up a blocked punt later in the quarter and returned it for a touchdown, cutting Purdue’s lead to 42-28.

Paul Griggs made a 34-yard field goal for Purdue, giving the Boilermakers a 45-28 advantage.
