Purdue opens up big lead

Purdue scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to open up a 42-14 lead against Marshall at halftime Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Akeem Shavers scored on a 2-yard run. Caleb TerBush threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Gary Bush.

Ricardo Allen and Josh Johnson also returned interceptions for the Boilermakers.

TerBush has three touchdown passes. Two have gone to Bush.

Allen returned an interception 39 yards for a score. It was his fourth interception return for a touchdown, a Purdue record.

Johnson returned his interception 74 yards for a touchdown on the next possession.

The two interception returns for touchdowns in one game is a school record.

TerBush completed 11 of 16 passes for 181 yards and the three touchdowns.

Rakeem Cato has completed 28 of 37 passes for 249 yards for Marshall. He has two touchdowns and three interceptions. Marshall's Tommy Shuler has 13 catches for 125 yards.
