Naked driver flees, charged

A state trooper got an eyeful Thursday morning when he stopped to check on a car parked along Interstate 69.

The trooper pulled up behind the red Pontiac Grand Prix, about 8:40 a.m. He walked up to the passenger side and saw a naked man in the driver’s seat performing a sex act on himself, according to the Indiana State Police.

As the trooper radioed for assistance, the man drove off. The trooper pursued him north on I-69 in Huntington County for about four miles until he eventually pulled over.

The driver, identified as Chad Knoll, 42, of Montpelier, Ohio, was taken into custody. He was evaluated at Parkview Huntington Hospital before he was booked into the Huntington County Jail.

Knoll faces a felony charge of resisting law enforcement and two misdemeanor counts: public nudity and operating a vehicle while intoxicated by a controlled substance. He remained in custody Friday night, with a bail of $14,000.
