Kokomo, Lafayette mourn soldiers

– Hundreds of people lined the streets of two Indiana cities to pay their respect as the bodies of a soldier and Marine killed in separate attacks in Afghanistan arrived home.

The body of 27-year-old Marine Sgt. Bradley Atwell was returned to his hometown of Kokomo on Friday and a procession was held through the city. The funeral for Atwell, who died Sept. 15 in an insurgent attack, is today.

It was a similar scene Thursday in Lafayette as dozens of motorcyclists joined a procession while the body of 26-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Kyle Osborn of Stockwell was taken to the funeral home. His funeral is set for today. Osborn died Sept. 13 from combat wounds.
