The Irish (4-0), who were idle this week, went from No. 10 to No. 9 in the AP poll. They moved into the coaches poll's top 10 going from No. 11 to No. 10.
Notre Dame will play its off-site game this week when it travels to Chicago's Soldier Field to play Miami (4-1), which is coming off a 44-37 win over North Carolina State, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Irish's bump in both polls comes after Stanford, which plays at Notre Dame on Oct. 13, lost to Washington on Thursday. The Cardinal fell from No. 8 in the AP poll to No. 18 and from No. 9 in the coaches poll to No. 18.
Notre Dame has risen into the top 10 thanks to its defense. The Irish are the only team not to allow a rushing touchdown this season and didn't give up a touchdown in wins over Michigan and Michigan State.
Notre Dame also is the only team not to trail in a game this season.
The Irish have three teams in the AP Top 25 remaining on their schedule. Along with Stanford, Notre Dame plays at No. 17 Oklahoma (2-1) on Oct. 27 and at No. 13 USC (3-1) on Nov. 24.
