Finally, some game action

Komets hold first scrimmage of camp

The Komets' first scrimmage of the 2012 training camp included a 4-2 victory by the Colin Chaulk-led White team over the Brett Smith-led Black team at Memorial Coliseum.

Scoring for White were Jean-Philipp Chabot (twice), Brayden Metz and Mark Hoban. For Black, Patrick Knowlton and John Dunbar found the back of the net.

There was almost even a fight, as Nicolas Thommen challenged Chabot, who declined.

As for players who stood out to me, I liked, in no particular order: forwards Chabot, Hoban, Metz, Knowlton, Dunbar, Knowlton and Robbie Smith, and defensemen Scott Kishel and Ricky Helmbrecht. Goalie Gerry Festa had the best save of the game.

Bear in mind, when it comes to these, I'm not really looking just at production, but also at who has the skill sets that would fit.

By the way, Trenton sent out its initial roster today and former Komets defenseman Tyler Miller is on it, assuming it is the same Tyler Miller.

Oh, and Stephon Thorne sat out today.
