Favorite teache r: Dawn Dykes, fifth grade teacher at Holland Elementary. She inspires me each day with her endless passion for teaching.

Favorite teaching memory: When a former first-grade student invited me to her high school graduation so that I could listen to her valedictorian speech.

Reason for nomination: “My son Alex was blessed to be in her class last year, and first grade will forever be one of his favorite years. Alex is a gifted student who needs to be challenged and Mrs. Barr was always up to the task, finding new ways for him to learn and expand his mind. But beyond the academics, she was a caring, loving, support system for him and was always encouraging him in all of his endeavors.”
