Huntington North picks up girls soccer win

Kelsey Hollowell and Corinne Tester each scored twice Saturday for Huntington North’s girls soccer team in its 4-2 victory at winless Richmond.

Paige Coolman had nine saves for the Vikings (7-8-1), but she was beat twice by Desi Tharp of winless Richmond.

NORWELL 6, NORTH SIDE 0: Alex Hartman scored twice at home, and Halee Klopfenstein had a goal and an assist.

SOUTH ADAMS 3, MANCHESTER 0: Samantha Sprunger scored twice, while Rachel Simon had a goal and an assist, at home.

Boys cross country

NECC MEET: West Noble won at home with 40 points, while Churubusco and Angola tied for second with 95. Nicholas Lagemann of Prairie Heights won in 15 minutes, 42.96 seconds. Central Noble’s Ryan Smith was second in 15:58.60.

Girls cross country

NECC MEET: Fremont won with 49 points in Ligonier, led by Anna Aldrich’s top time of 18:06.25.

Boys soccer

RICHMOND 2, HUNTINGTON NORTH 1: Isaac Wust scored for the Vikings at home.

CARMEL 2, HOMESTEAD 1: Chris Anderson had the lone Spartans goal at Carmel.

Boys tennis

NORWELL SECTIONAL: Adams Central got a 3-2 victory over Bellmont to advance to the regional at Carroll, where it will take on the Chargers. Evan Selking defeated Nathan Barger 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. The Flying Jets got doubles victories from Connor Lengerich and Isaac Luginbill and from Pierce Harris and Ben Kaehr.
