Shooter's Comments:
The more we move into the football season the more difficult it is to cover games. The sun sets earlier with each game until it is pitch dark. Yes, there are stadium lights, but it never seems to be enough light when you are shooting action photos. On Friday, there was still some light from the setting sun half-way into the first quarter of Carroll vs. Homestead.
I started out with a teleconverter on my 80 to 200 mm zoom lens and set my camera to 1200 ISO. Fifteen minutes into the game, I took off the extender to gain back an extra stop of light. Five minutes later, I pushed the ISO up to 1600. After that, I continued with 1/250 at f2.8, even though everything was underexposed. I added a little strobe, and hoped for the best.
