Zeller named Sporting News Preseason Player of the Year

Indiana sophomore forward Cody Zeller was named the Preseason Player of the Year and a first-team All-American by The Sporting News.

Zeller led IU with 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last year. He shot 62.3 percent (200 of 321) from the field and 75.5 percent (163 of 216) from the free throw line. He finished fourth in the country in field goal percentage and leads the Big Ten Conference.

Freshman guard Yogi Ferrell was one of five players named to The Sporting News' All-Freshman team

Indiana was also ranked No. 1 in the publication.
