Longtime WANE-TV news photographer dies

FORT WAYNE – Ron Harmeyer, a news photographer who worked four decades for WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, died Friday.

Harmeyer, who was inducted into the Indiana Associated Press Hall of Fame in April 2011, retired as chief photographer from WANE-TV earlier this year, according to the station.

His obituary said a Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Drive. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed toward St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, www.stmarysfw.org/soup_kitchen.
