A woman who died early Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on Bluffton Road has been identified.
Melissa A. Aschliman, 44, of Auburn, died of blunt-force trauma, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
The collision, just south of Ferguson Road, occurred about 6 a.m. when a Jeep traveling south in the 11100 block of Bluffton Road crossed the centerline, striking a Volkswagen Beetle heading north, according to a report from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
The head-on collision caused the VW to spin into a ditch and the Jeep to overturn in the road. Aschliman, the driver of the VW, died at the scene, while the male driver of the Jeep had minor injuries, the police statement said.
The drivers were both wearing seat belts.
Services for Aschliman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Feller & Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn, according to her obituary. Visitation will begin at noon.
