2 city officers suspended for job lapses

The suspensions of two Fort Wayne police officers were announced Monday at a meeting of the Board of Public Safety.

Officer Diane Rogers was suspended for five days without pay for investigative negligence.

Police Chief Rusty York said Rogers responded to a report that a stolen moped had been recovered but she did not file the necessary forms.

York said Rogers’ punishment was compounded because of a previous allegation against her in the past six or seven months.Officer Robert Ness received a one-day suspension without pay because he was absent without leave. York said Ness thought he was scheduled for time off when he was not.
