A DeKalb County man accused of intentionally setting fire to the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo was arrested Tuesday in Fort Wayne.
Ohio and federal authorities sought the help of the Indiana State Police in arresting Randy T. Linn, 52, of St. Joe, at his workplace in Fort Wayne, state police said.
About 3:30 p.m., Indiana troopers, federal agents and local law enforcement officers found Linn and took him into custody in a parking lot in the 7600 block of Opportunity Drive.
Linn is suspected of starting a fire Sunday at the Islamic Center, a mosque in Perrysburg Township, Ohio. The blaze caused smoke and water damage on the second floor of the mosque that sits along Interstate 75 near Toledo.
Shane Cartmill, Ohio fire marshal spokesman, told the Toledo Blade newspaper that investigators believe the suspect is the same person captured by a surveillance camera.
The building’s gold dome is visible for miles and is a landmark in northwest Ohio.
Linn was being held at the Allen County Jail until his extradition hearing. In Ohio, he faces charges of aggravated burglary, carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of arson.
