Irish get ACC basketball partners

Notre Dame will be paired with Boston College and Georgia Tech as scheduling partners in men's and women's basketball when it enters the Atlantic Coast Conference, the league announced today.

The Irish, who announced they will join the ACC in every sport but football and basketball on Sept. 12, will play Boston College and Georgia Tech twice a year and the other teams once a year in the 18-game conference schedule.

ACC teams will have home-and-away series with two partners every year, and teams will play the rest of the league at home or away each year.

The ACC tournament will run Wednesday through Sunday when Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pittsburgh join the conference. Three games will be played on Wednesday with four games to be played on Thursday and Friday. The semifinals will be on Saturday, and the title game will be played on Sunday.

There is no set date for when Notre Dame, which is currently a member of the Big East, will join the ACC.

The ACC also said it will keep an eight-game conference schedule in football in order to accommodate its deal with Notre Dame playing five ACC opponents every year starting in 2014.
