The other day I found my young broccoli plants devastated by cabbage worms. I stopped counting the number of worms after I pulled off a hundred. These were suppose to be my fall crop. I am hoping they leaf back out after I plant them in the ground.
I am about ready to pull out the eggplant and pepper plants. They are still alive because I protected them from our last frost, but they aren't going to produce any new fruit with this cold weather. They don't do well when it drops below 70 degrees.
In the new-found space I am going to put in the broccoli plants. I have heard that broccoli is very frost tolerant and loves to grow in cooler. I have read that broccoli can handle 20-degree frost as daytime temperatures are around 50 degrees with 4 hours of sunlight.
I am going to give it a try and see how it goes. I am not off to a great start, but I m going to keep trying.
