FORT WAYNE – A nonprofit assistance organization will relocate one of its sites if given the nod by city zoning officials.
Pathfinder Services Inc. plans to leave its South Calhoun Street address to reside at The Summit, 1025 W. Rudisill Blvd.
Ambassador Campus Properties will lease about 2,100 square feet. Summits 25-acre campus was home to Taylor University-Fort Wayne. This week, Ambassador requested contingent use status with the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Huntington-based Pathfinder is a community service group that provides vocational training, housing and life-skills assistance to people with disabilities. It also has locations in Marshall, Wabash and Whitley counties.
Pathfinder President and CEO John Niederman said officials have had their eye on The Summit for quite a while.
We wanted to be there ever since it was Taylor, he said. Now with the other nonprofits there, we hope to be able to work together.
Grace College and Crossroads Bible College are tenants at The Summit. Niederman said his organization could provide internships and housing assistance to students after they graduate.
This week, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana announced it was moving into The Summits first and second floors in what was Witmer Hall.
Pathfinder would be on the buildings third floor.
Renovations are to be completed in January. Pathfinder would make the move in early January, while Big Brothers Big Sisters will follow later that month.
Ambassador Executive Director Larry Rottmeyer said the addition of Pathfinders will create a nice mix of tenants.
Theyre all focused on education and training and the needs of the county, he said. Theyll work together.
