Driver in deadly DWI on Bluffton Road named

A 19-year-old man who police say was drunk when he survived a head-on crash that killed an Auburn woman last weekend has been identified.

Kevin Nader had a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 percent – more than twice the legal limit – when he took a portable breath test at the Bluffton Road crash scene, Allen County police said.

Nader was driving a Jeep south on Bluffton near Ferguson Road on Saturday morning when he crossed the centerline. His Jeep then struck a Volkswagen Beetle heading north on Bluffton, police said.

Melissa A. Aschliman, 44, of Auburn, was driving the Beetle and died at the scene from blunt-force trauma, according to investigators.

No charges against Nader have been filed but the case remains under investigation, police said.
