For starters

Purdue opens Big Ten play today with a home game against Michigan.

It's the biggest game at Ross-Ade Stadium in some time. A victory would be a strong statement for Purdue as it attempts to make a step in the direction of a contender for the conference title.

The Boilermakers are 3-1. Michigan is 2-2.

Offensively, Purdue has to continue to have success through the air. Quarterback Caleb TerBush is coming off a big game against Marshall.

The Boilermakers are averaging 42.5 points per game. Michigan is giving up 23 points per game. Purdue is 17 of 19 in red-zone opportunities. The trend has to continue today.

Defensively, Purdue will have to try to take away the run and force Michigan to pass. The Boilermakers have had some success in slowing down Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson in the past. But last year, running back Fitzgerald Toussaint had a big day against the Boilermakers.

Purdue has had success getting points off of turnovers. Robinson has thrown eight interceptions.
