Fighting mad

The Komets trail the Evansville IceMen 5-2 after two periods of the first exhibition game between the teams.

But that's not really the story.

There were four fights in the period, including a wild one near the end. A shot sailed into the air and Fort Wayne goalie Francois Lacerte jumped up to get it, as did Evansville's Aaron McGill.

Then, McGill decided to punch Lacerte in the back of the head, setting off a fight between the two.

McGill got a game misconduct for being an aggressor. I'm not sure what he was peeved about to start the melee. Lacerte got a game misonduct, too, and Gerry Festa had to come back in the game.

I will have all the fights on video after the game. Click here to see the Jean-Philipp Chabot fight.

The Komets' goals are from Cory Park and Kyle Atkins.
