Mobile minister heads to prison for molestation

MOBILE, Ala. — A minister in Mobile has been sentenced to a decade in prison after being convicted of molesting a 15-year-old boy.

A local jury earlier convicted 49-year-old Stanley Oneal Porter of second-degree sodomy. Judge Michael Youngpeter denied a defense request to allow Porter to remain free while he appeals.

Porter maintained his innocence at the sentencing hearing and said a law limiting the defense team's ability to raise the sexual history of the victim compromised his defense.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/SCjJVl ) that Porter is the pastor of Fellowship Church and had a religious program on radio station WGOK. Porter will be required to register as a sex offender.
