Gary plane crash victims identified

2 Florida men died Wednesday

– Two men who died when a small airplane crashed into a wooded area about a mile short of Gary-Chicago International Airport in northwestern Indiana have been identified as being from St. Augustine, Fla.

Lake County coroner Merrilee Frey said in a news release she used dental records to identify the remains of 48-year-old Vincent Vaccarello and 45-year-old Patsy Crisafi, who were killed when the plane crashed about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Aviation officials haven’t yet released any information about what caused the crash. The single-engine plane was registered to Gandy AIR LLC in St. Augustine, Fla., according to the FAA. The plane had taken off from Smyrna, Tenn.
