Shooter's Comments:
It's been awhile since I've done a studio assignment. Cathie, Laura and I tossed around some ideas the day before. The next day, I went outside and found some sticks in the parking lot to give it a fall feel.
I wanted the lighting to be somewhat dramatic but not overkill. Laura helped me tweak the lights and setup the other apples around the pile of sticks, which I think made for a nice background. She also came up with the idea of using a real stick for the apple and Frank Gray carved a hole into the apple so it would stay. Laura held the apple in different positions while I photographed. I think it was a great team effort to bring a little something extra and different to a food assignment.
