With more than 15 inches of precipitation so far this year, there’s no doubt this spring will bring out swarms of mosquitoes, experts say.FORT WAYNE – The official groundbreaking for a new outdoor aquatic center at Jorgensen Family YMCA is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at 10313 Aboite Center Road.
The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne said a major gift will be announced, as well as the name of the center.
The $1.8 million project will feature six 25-foot lap lanes, a beach entry with a splash zone play area, a toddler pool with a Cascades Discovery Fountain, a zip line, a snack shop and access from both inside and outside the YMCA facility, the organization said in a statement.
Future construction plans will include a playground, picnic area, water slide and climbing wall, the statement said. It said the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne plans to have the new center in operation by this summer.
