Saint Francis picked fifth in preseason conference poll

Cougars men 5th in conference poll

Saint Francis’ men’s basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the Crossroad League preseason coaches’ poll.

The Cougars finished 23-13 in 2011-12 in the Mid-Central Conference, finishing runner-up to Grace College in the conference tournament.

The Cougars also advanced to the Elite 8 in the NAIA national tournament and were the last MCC representative to be eliminated there. It was Saint Francis’ third straight trip to the nationals.

Indiana Wesleyan was picked to finish first in the preseason poll, and Grace was chosen second.

Huntington was picked to finish eighth in the 10-team league.

Saint Francis opens its 49th season of men’s basketball Oct. 27 with an exhibition at Northwood University in Midland, Mich.

The Cougars’ regular season opens Nov. 2 at Concordia in Ann Arbor, Mich.
