Men's soccer loses

Despite seven saves from sophomore Brandon Cloutier, IPFW lost 2-0 to Northern Kentucky on Tuesday in Highland Heights, Ky.

Cloutier, who was ranked eighth in the country in goalie saves, has seven or more saves in the game for the fourth time in his last seven matches this season, as the Mastodons fell to 0-12-1.

Northern Kentucky (3-7-1) scored 13:17 into the game when Brendan Murphy beat Cloutier toward the left post.

Less than four minutes into the second half, Michael Bartlett put one into the back of the net at the left side of the goal to give the Norse a 2-0 lead. With just under 20 minutes remaining, Zach Rodgers missed just high on a one-on-one attempt on Northern Kentucky goalkeeper A.J. Fleak.

IPFW was outshot 17-7. The teams had an even number of corner kicks (four).

Rodgers had a team-high two shots, one on goal, while five others: Kyle Ackerman, Austin West, Nate Shipman, Scott Williams, and Darnell Parris had a shot apiece.

The Mastodons return to action at 7 p.m. Saturday against Omaha in the first of three straight home matches. The week after IPFW will play host to Bowling Green and Oakland.
