Delusion, Part Deux

Remember yesterday, when Jerry Sandusky essentially accused his accusers, Penn State, the court system, the media and perhaps the Easter Bunny of a vast conspiracy to convict him as a child molester?

Well, read the statement from Lance Armstrong's attorney about halfway through this. And then tell me it doesn't sound a lot like what Sandusky was saying.

Sounds to me as if the USADA has a pretty overwhelming case against Armstrong -- more than 1,000 pages of testimony and evidence including sworn statements from not one, not two, but 11 of his former teammates that Armstrong not only doped but was at the center of a sophisticated doping operation.

But, of course, according to Armstrong's attorney, it's all a vast conspiracy to bring down, for reasons that can't be rationally explained, the greatest cyclist of all time and an inspiration to cancer patients everywhere. Those 11 former teammates, all of them, were A) simply jealous of him; or B) coerced into saying stuff about Lance that wasn't true by government officials who -- again, for reasons that can't be rationally explained -- were out to get Lance.

Yeeeaaah. OK.
