A Fort Wayne teenager crossing the street was struck and injured Wednesday morning in the 2400 block of Broadway by a large vehicle that did not stop, city police said.
The 13-year-old girl, who was not identified, was in serious but stable condition at a local hospital, police said in a statement.
Police said they are looking for an older, large four-door vehicle, possibly tan and similar in style to an Oldsmobile 98, that may have a large dent on the driver's side and a broken window.
They said they were sent to the scene near Broadway and Scott Avenue at about 6:40 a.m.
A witness reported the victim was crossing the street to get to her bus stop in the 1000 block of West Creighton Avenue when a man driving south on Broadway struck her.
Witnesses told police the vehicle did not have its headlights on at the time of the crash, but the driver put them on as he left the scene going south on Broadway.
The crash is under investigation by city police, and anyone with information about the vehicle or the driver is asked to call 427-1222.
