Family able to escape south-side porch fire

It took Fort Wayne firefighters a little more than a half-hour to control a porch fire at a home at 125 E. Suttenfield St. on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the two-story home just after 1:45 p.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the porch of the home.

Two adults and a child living at the home had already evacuated after spotting the fire on the porch.

The fire extended into the attic and caused moderate damage to the home, according to a fire report.
