Dozens of students suffered bumps and bruises in Wednesday's crash near North Webster, while one student had a broken hand and another broke a collarbone.If stealing a cellphone wasn't a mistake, taking photos with it was.
Lauren Winston, 20, told police he took the phone from Grand Wayne Center on Sept. 28 and used it to shoot some photos of himself, court documents stated.
Those photos were automatically uploaded to the cellphone owner's account at Dropbox.com.
The owner posted the photos online and shared them with news outlets. After Winston saw his photo in the news and learned police were looking for him, he sold the phone and then, on Oct. 4, he turned himself in, court documents said.
Winston, of the 800 block of Wilt Street, was charged Wednesday with felony theft. He was in custody at the Allen County Jail, with a bail amount of $2,500.
