CLEVELAND (AP) — The man who famously put down his Big Mac to help rescue three women held captive for a decade in an Ohio house will never have to pay for another burger in his hometown.TOLEDO, Ohio – The grandson of an Ohio man who founded a hot dog eatery made famous on the TV series “M-A-S-H” has been acquitted of stealing close to a quarter-million dollars from the company.
Jurors in Toledo took only an hour Thursday to come back with not guilty verdicts in favor of Tony Packo III and a company controller.
Prosecutors accused the pair of working together to steal from the restaurant chain. Defense attorneys say the charges stemmed from a family feud over control of the restaurant.
Actor Jamie Farr made Tony Packo’s famous in the 1970s when he portrayed a homesick U.S. soldier in the Korean War who longed for Packo’s hot dogs.
The restaurant chain was sold this year after a yearlong battle over ownership.
