Drugs, gun found on Nelly’s tour bus

Authorities say they found drugs and a gun on rapper Nelly’s tour bus at a West Texas border checkpoint where several celebrities have been arrested.

Hudspeth County sheriff’s officials said an initial search Wednesday night turned up small amounts of marijuana and heroin and a loaded gun. Authorities say a second search revealed a duffel bag with about 10 pounds of pot.

Officials say one of the occupants was arrested after admitting the drugs and gun belonged to him. Nelly and five others were released.

Baby on the way

One of the few couples from ABC’s “The Bachelor” franchise to marry is now expecting their first child. Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney Mesnick’s baby is due in March.

People.com first reported the news. Thirty-six-year-old Jason Mesnick confirmed the report on Twitter saying, “WAHOOOOOOOO!!! Molly is going to be a MOM and TY a BIG BROTHER!” Mesnick’s son Ty is from a previous marriage.

The couple met on the 13th season of “The Bachelor.” The two married in February 2010.

Spencer pens book

Oscar winner Octavia Spencer is looking to make some magic in the book world.

The actress best known for “The Help” has a deal with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers for a pair of detective novels for middle school students. Simon & Schuster announced Thursday that the first book, “Randi Rhodes, Ninja Detective: The Case of the Time-Capsule Bandit,” will come out next fall.

SUV slides away

Radio talk show host Glenn Beck’s family had a close call when their sport utility vehicle rolled down a steep hill in New York’s Finger Lakes region just after they had exited the SUV.

In an account of the mishap posted on Beck’s website, TheBlaze.com, he says he was hugging his newly married daughter as his wife got their young son out of the vehicle. They had just arrived at the cottage rented for the daughter’s wedding reception last weekend in Lodi, on Seneca Lake. Beck says the SUV slid down the hill and overturned, coming to rest near the shoreline.
