Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees came through in relief again in Saturday's 20-13 overtime win over Stanford.
After starter Everett Golson was knocked out by a helmet-to-helmet hit late in the fourth quarter, Rees came in to finish a drive to a game-tying field goal.
Then in overtime, Rees was sacked for a 7-yard loss on the first play in overtime, the junior complete passes of 9, 16 and 7 yards.
Rees' last throw was for a touchdown to TJ Jones on a slant rout that put the Irish in front by 7.
Stanford got to Notre Dame's 1-yard line on its possession with two chances to punch the ball in.
Cardinal running back Stepfan Taylor was stopped on the first attempt, and on the second attempt,Taylor initially ruled to be stopped.
And after a review, the play stood.
Notre Dame improved to 6-0, and on the eve of the first BCS poll of the season, the No. 7 Irish can expect a good starting spot in the poll.
