Ball, Badgers run past Purdue

Montee Ball rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns as Wisconsin defeated Purdue 38-14 in front of 46,007 fans Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Leaders Division showdown turned into a blowout for the Badgers (5-2, 2-1 Big Ten).

The afternoon started well for Purdue (3-3, 0-2).

Quarterback Caleb TerBush completed a 52-yard pass to Antavian Edison on the first play from scrimmage. The completion put the ball at Wisconsin’s 1. TerBush scored on the next play on a 1-yard run.

Wisconsin marched down the field on its first drive. Wisconsin quarterback Joel Stave had plenty of time to throw during the drive. He completed a 21-yard pass to an open Jacob Pedersen for a touchdown to tie the game.

Ball scored on a 3-yard run to give the Badgers a 14-7 lead with 10:19 left in the second quarter. Kyle French made a 30-yard field goal to extend Wisconsin’s lead to 17-7 with 4:47 to go.

That was the score at halftime. It could have been worse. The Badgers have missed two field goals.

Ball scored on a 67-yard run on the second play from scrimmage to give Wisconsin a 24-7 lead.

Wisconsin was in line for another score, but Bishop Dwenger graduate Landon Feichter intercepted a pass in the end zone for Purdue late in the third quarter. It was the third interception of the season for Feichter.

James White added a touchdown for the Badgers in the fourth quarter. Akeem Hunt had an 81-yard TD for Purdue late in the game.
