Purdue wasted little time as quarterback Caleb TerBush completed a 52-yard pass to Antavian Edison on the first play from scrimmage. The completion put the ball at Wisconsin's 1. TerBush scored on the next play on a 1-yard run.
Wisconsin marched down the field on its first drive. Wisconsin quarterback Joel Stave had plenty of time to throw during the drive. He completed a 21-yard pass to an open Jacob Pedersen for a touchdown to tie the game.
TerBush was 5 of 9 for 78 yards and one interception in the quarter. Stave was 5 of 8 for 63 yards and the one touchdown.
Wisconsin rushed for 79 yards. Purdue had 25 rushing yards.
