Men's soccer wins 1st match

Behind a first-half goal from sophomore Nate Shipman, and a shutout in goal from classmate Brandon Cloutier, the IPFW Mastodons secured its first win of the 2012 season by a 1-0 score of the Omaha Mavericks in a physical match on Saturday evening at the Hefner Soccer Field.

The goal was the first in Shipman's career, while Cloutier picked up the third shutout of his young career, and his 73rd save of the season. The shutout came against a strong offensive Maverick team, which ranked 20th nationally averaging 2.0 goals per game, and had only been shut out two times coming into the match.
