Ball State basketball returns veteran unit

Ball State had its first practice of the men’s basketball season late Friday at Worthen Arena, giving sixth-year coach Billy Taylor a chance to see his team in action.

The team includes junior guard Jesse Berry, who led the Cardinals with 9.7 points per game last season, and senior guard Jauwan Scaife, who is within 200 points of 1,000 for his career and ranks eighth in team history with 133 three-pointers.

Forwards Chris Bond, Tyler Koch and Matt Kamieniecki, all juniors, combined for 60 starts last year.

Ball State’s newcomers include junior college transfer Majok Majok, who played at Texas’ Midland College.

The Cardinals will open the season Nov. 11 against Grambling in Muncie, and six of Ball State’s first eight games will be at home.

Season tickets are available online at BallStateSports.com/tickets or by calling 1-888-BSU-TICKET.
